portable storage unit or a garage-like storage unit?

Which is a better option - a portable storage unit or a garage-like storage unit at a facility? I couldn't decide which was the best method for my family to use since we were going to be moving in the next year. I just knew that I had to clear a lot of our stuff out of the house before I could welcome potential buyers into the house. I went back and forth and did a lot of research about the two options and finally came to a decision that suited our needs the best. Find out what I learned about these two options right here on my blog.

Tips For Packing Your Stuff For Long-Term Storage

When you have to place your things in a long-term storage facility, you want to make sure that you are doing everything you can in order to pack things the best you can. It is not as though you can just randomly throw things into a box because you know you will be back to retrieve all of it in a couple of weeks. To help make sure that the packing of your stuff goes as smoothly as possible and that everything will be protected, you will want to check out the following tips.

Don't Skimp Out On The Padding

You will want to make sure that all of your items that could be broken are packed up with the utmost protection in mind. Assume that all of your boxes are going to be kicked around and use foam peanuts and plastic bubble wrap to protect what is yours. If you do this, it will be unlikely that you are going to end up with a lot of broken things. You can also use towels, sheets, blankets, and even clothing as packing material to help protect some of your more fragile items. After all, those things need to go to storage as well, right?

Do Not Fill The Box

You do not want to overstuff your boxes because they can become too heavy for people to carry. The heavier the boxes are, the more likely it is that someone could accidentally drop them. Also, when the boxes are in the storage unit and they are stacked on top of each other, the heavier boxes are going to be prone to falling over, causing many things to break.

Now that you have those tips in mind, it should be much easier for you to start packing all of your stuff for long-term storage. If you have a lot of things to pack up, such as an entire household's worth, you will want to get the process started as soon as possible. This is extremely important if you have a deadline that you have to meet. You do not want to make the mistake of assuming that it won't take long or that you might be able to get extra time. If you misjudge the situation, you could very well find that you are going to run out of time, which will cause you to start to rush things.
